This joyous puja marks agricultural abundance and new beginnings. The ceremony includes Surya (Sun) worship, boiling of fresh rice (symbolic of prosperity overflow), cattle worship, and thanksgiving rituals. It's a celebration of nature's bounty and farmer's hard work.

When to Perform

Pongal/Sankranti is celebrated on January 14-15 every year when the sun enters Capricorn. The main puja is performed in the morning during sunrise, with the traditional pongal rice being cooked outdoors.
